ATTENTION!!! - Boys, Young Men, Parents, Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins! In affiliation with the Boy Scouts of America's California Inland Empire Council, Temple Community Outreach Center has formed one of the very first Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout Troops on the Westside area of San Bernardino.
In continuing to apply the "tried and true" principles described in the mission of the Boy Scouts of America, that "prepares young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law," the leaders teach the cubs and scouts to have fun, strive for rank advancement, and internalize principles of discipline.
Make a difference and become a Cub Scout or Boy Scout volunteer (ages 18+)! In addition, we encourage you to sign up or sponsor a child in either the Cub Scout Pack (ages 6 - 10 years) or the Boy Scout Troop (ages 11+ years) today! For more information, meeting dates and times, or how you can help our community in teaching our young boys and men strong ethical standards and good morals, please contact Pastor John Murdock at (909) 888-2038.

HAVE A QUICK LOOK AROUND...

WHEN, HOW AND WHY IT BEGAN?
In 1994, a support group at Temple Missionary Baptist Church, called Women Transformed, was started in order to reach women with alcohol and drug related problems at the church and within the surrounding community. From there, we began working to address the immediate needs of some of these women by working with the San Bernardino County Health Department. Thus, Black Infant Health Outreach Services to African American women was developed, because California census data shown that zip codes 92410 and 92411 had the highest rate of infant mortality in the state. The California census data also reflected information that residents living in these areas were the least served or refused to utilize existing services.
In 1996, we recognized the need to further expand the outreach services to assist in the development of individual social skills. From there, educational programs were implemented to develop decision making skills, employability, money management, family responsibilities, and understanding the law. In addition, health related transportation outreach services was provided to senior citizens residing in the surrounding community; as well as teaching telephone skills and providing a callback message center for those individuals utilizing the job search and employment resources of the outreach center and partnered community agencies.
In 2003, the Temple Community Outreach T. Hughes Memorial Center completed an entire renovation of the "T-Hughes Building." The "T. Hughes" renovation project was accomplished in order to facilitate the expansion and improving of existing community outreach programs, and to offer additional services and assistance to those in need.
